FDC Internal SEO Experiment case study

Can Structured Off-Page SEO Activity Drive 44 New Keyword Rankings in 12 Days?

Most SEO case studies show gradual progress over months. This experiment was designed to answer a more specific question: how quickly can structured, burst-based off-page activity move the needle on keyword rankings — and does it hold?

Methodology: A Two-Phase Controlled SEO Experiment

  • Phase 1 (January 15–30): Mapped target SEO keywords across subdomain blog content, ran interlinking activity, built profiles, web 2.0 links, social bookmarks, and link exchanges
  • Phase 2 (January 1–12 follow-up): Repeated the off-page activity in a focused 12-day burst, targeting consolidation of UK keyword gains and expansion into new terms
  • Rest periods: Built in deliberate rest periods to observe natural ranking movement and isolate the effect of the activity
  • Cross-market observation: Monitored for organic spillover effects in non-targeted markets (US)
